Great Value Indulgent Trail Mix
Trail mix dates back to the 1910’s when outdoorsman Horace Kephart recommended it in his popular camping guide. It seems that trail mix has evolved over the years from good old raisins and peanuts to lots of chocolate with some raisins and nuts. Anyone who reads Junk Foody knows that I have quite the sweet tooth so the more chocolate the better. 🙂
If I recall correctly I stumbled upon Great Value Indulgent Trail Mix shortly after I got married. My wife has banned it from our household because of my inability to eat it in human being sized portions. Great Value is Walmart’s store brand so this particular trail mix is only available there. Indulgent Trail Mix is made up: white chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, peanuts, golden raisins, dried cranberries, almonds and cashews.
If you’re a fan of white and milk chocolate and have a soft spot for sweet and salty this trail mix is definitely for you. The chocolate chips are abundant, the nuts provide a slight salty balance and the dried cranberries providing a hint of tartiness. I would describe this trail mix as chocolate chips with a hint of nuts, its a whole lotta sweet with a bit of salty. It’s the perfect way to pretend you are eating something healthy while satisfying your sweet tooth.
For a change I didn’t kill it in one sitting but I did eat about 2/3rds of the bag…it has 25 servings 😮
